This woman here though, young enough, in nude slacks and a business casual top, a fortune teller or whatever she calls herself, stands up and pivots to rehang a fallen banner. Her bunyanesque glamour shot smile, printed to dominate and impress, slumps slack-jawed on the ground. The other side, a heavy list of services, Serena assumes, targeting anyone with the mildest sense of heartache or self-doubt, hangs folded over and illegible. A yellow nylon rope snags along the top through a series of duct tape-patched grommets. When she stretches up to untangle the mess, a long lace sleeve cascades over her head. She sways off a hidden limp, stumbles forward out of her hackneyed mystique and Nike slides, and lands on her knees in the dirt.

Christina Pitchford is a seventh-generation Floridian, book nerd, and compulsive do-gooder.

She loves the smell of sunshine on her skin.

The picture book she wrote and illustrated in middle school about an invisible cow named Harvey won best book for the county but got slaughtered at the state level. A friend’s mom then stole the book to sell at a later date when Christina became a famous writer. But life happened. Decades later, she has reappeared with new stories to share, and hopes you enjoy.
